If the action of poker was synonymous with one type of game, the action would be in Texas Hold'Em. With up to ten people playing at once, Texas Hold'Em is arguably the most popular poker game in the world. Players are dealt two cards each (called the hole cards), and five community cards are dealt by the dealer, with a round of betting preceding each new community card. Players need to make the best five card hand out of the five community cards and two hole cards. Note that you do not have to use the two hole cards in your hand. You can use both, only one or none of them.
- The Players to the left of the Dealer begin the game by posting the blind bets. The Player on the Dealer's left posts a small blind bet, and the Player on the Small Blind's left posts a big blind bet. Note: The Dealer's position at the table changes after every game. The dealer button (D) shows the Dealer's position at the table.
- Two pocket cards are dealt to each Player.
- In the first round, the Player to the Big Blind's left plays first and can either:
- Fold
- Bet
- Raise
Note: In the first round, betting is capped at one bet and three raises per Player. Players cannot check in the first betting round because the Blinds are bets, not antes.
- In the second round, three community cards are dealt. This is called the Flop. A round of betting follows, and Players can either:
- Check
- Fold
- Call
- Raise
- In the third round, a fourth community card is dealt. This is called the Turn. Another round of betting follows.
- In the fourth round, a fifth and final community card is dealt. This is called the River Card. The final round of betting follows. The remaining Players then use their two pocket cards and the five community cards to create the best five-card hand possible. The winner takes the pot.
Note: If two or more Players have the same hand, the pot is split equally between them.Tips
To improve your chances of winning, use the following strategies:
- Five of the total Seven-Cards are viewable on the second round of betting. This gives you a good idea of how strong your final hand could be.
- To complete a possible winning combination, it is important to consider how the five community cards interact with your hidden hand.
- Fold when necessary. You have not lost much if you have a worthless hand and decide to fold early in the game.
The most popular of the stud poker games and a close second to Texas Hold'Em in popularity, Seven Card Stud is a high betting game that rewards skilful players who crave a challenge. Each Player is dealt three cards, two face down (called hole cards) and one face up (called up or door cards). Rounds of betting precede the Dealer giving each player three more up cards and one more down card. A final round of betting occurs after the last card, and the Player with the highest five card hand wins using any five of their seven cards.
Tips
Similar to Texas Hold'Em, Omaha is a community card poker game where players are dealt four cards (called the pocket cards), instead of two as in Texas Hold'Em. The Dealer then deals five community cards, with betting rounds preceding each newly dealt community card. Players must make the best five card hand using two of their pocket cards and three of the community cards.Note: To play Omaha Poker you must have enough credits to place a blind bet and a bet.

Five Card StudThe classic poker game, Five Card Stud Poker is one of the oldest games. Players are dealt one card face down (the hole card) and one card face up (the up or door card). Players then have a betting round before the dealer gives out a new up card. Once players have five cards there is a final round of betting, and the Player with the highest hand wins the pot.Note: To play Five-Card Stud Poker you must have enough credits to place an ante and a bet.
- Place an ante on the table.
Note: The ante amount is set by the card room.
- Each Player is dealt two cards: one pocket card and one visible card.
- The Player with the lowest card showing must bring-in the betting.
- In the second round, another visible card is dealt to all Players at the table. A round of betting follows. This process continues until each Player has one pocket card and four visible cards.
After the last visible card is dealt to each, a final round of betting follows. Remaining Players display their pocket card. The highest hand wins.Tip
- Watch your opponents' visible cards. You can see when you are on a losing hand. And you can see if any card that you need to complete a winning hand is already taken by another Player.
